RECO’s Approach

Advocacy – Building, strengthening and facilitating civic expression towards environmental conservation, agriculture improvement, youth un employment and cross cutting issues through sensitizing communities on the operating policy and legislative environment as well as fostering their capacity to actively participate and influence service delivery

Build skills of communities in improving their livelihoods. Skills development is important for rural and urban poor, youth and women in sustainable natural resources management, agriculture , nutrition and environmental sanitation to overcome poverty and achieve sustainable livelihoods;

Up scaling tested and successful technologies and policy provisions at community level for improved livelihoods of the vulnerable communities. Particular focus will be put to identified critical issues (energy, food security, access to water, environmental sanitation, forest conservation and sustainable incomes);

Nurturing civic consciousness through consistent area-wide mass media/rural media campaigns in partnership with media, youths and theater groups. This is intended to un-politicize environmental issues and create greater awareness of entitlements, roles and responsibilities;

Mobilizing the youths in schools and out for schools and building their capacity in environment management, nutrition, hygiene and environmental sanitation;

Building strong ownership and issues and facilitating self-representation at decision making as well as systemic participatory community monitoring initiatives;

Purposeful capture lessons and best practices for policy advocacy engagements (effective use of lessons) and sharing with relevant stakeholders;

Promote knowledge sharing at community and national levels through peer exchange learning events as well as the open knowledge network;

Gender and HIV/AIDs mainstreaming conscious/sensitive and responsive engagements characterized by facilitation of peer learning and mutual support across communities and among CSO partners;
